FilmSPARK to Showcase the Triangle's Latest Filmmakers
On Sunday, September 23 at 8PM, FilmSpark will highlight 8 new works by local filmmakers from the Triangle area, featuring examples of animation, experimental, documentary and narrative filmmaking. Though several of the pieces are set in the Triangle, the program also explores our filmmakers' experiences abroad with pieces set in Winnipeg, Qatar, Tokyo and London. The program wraps up with new animation by students in the NC State College of Design. Screening will begin at approximately 8pm (or when the sun goes down) and will last until 10 PM. Films will be projected on the large outdoor screen in Moore Square in downtown Raleigh and introduced by Josh Gibson and Shambhavi Kaul, the lead organizers of FilmSPARK.

SparkCon is a conference and showcase dedicated to connecting the local creative community. A 100% volunteer effort that is organized as an "Open Source" effort, each Spark component of SparkCon is created by individuals who are deeply embedded in specific local scenes. Using a combination of networking and open call-for-participants, these organizers have aimed to create the most diverse and representative events to show off local talent. In so doing, many have found success at creating new and lasting connections across disparate creative scenes.
