MusicSPARK Announces Tremendous Music Showcase for SparkCon 07
Building on last year’s landmark event of staging more than 10 acts of local musical
talent and joining them with an international scene, MusicSPARK has ramped up this
year in venues, genres and creativity to include more than triple the shows.
MusicSPARK is one of many components of SparkCon, a 100% volunteer effort by local
talent to “connect the creative community.” From fashion to graffiti and workshops to
breakdancing, SparkCon highlights those that make this place great. Built on a
decentralized “open source” organizational model, each SPARK is created by those with
a passion to connect the community across normal barriers. MusicSPARK is no
exception.
Organizers Lynnea Villanova and Chico Scott, both musicians, have tapped extensive
networks to create shows that cover a wide spectrum of local talent for the shows starting
September 20.
“From Indie Rock to Opera to Hip Hop to film+music events, the diversity of local talent
has really stepped up,” says Scott.
As with last year, MusicSPARK will also try to build connections across borders with
some out-of-towners such as Apples in Stereo and Mike G of the the Jungle Brothers.
These shows will take place within “rickshaw distance” of each other in downtown
Raleigh. Following is the expected lineup:
