SparkCon 07 to Take Triangle by Storm
Building off of last year's premier event to showcase the Triangle's creative talent, Spark
Con 07 promises to offer offer even deeper connections across the creative community.
While growing core events from last year such as speakers, workshops, fashion, art &
music showcases, many more people have been engaged in the local area to exhibit
creativity across an even broader spectrum.
Running from Sep 20-23, SparkCon 07 will be centered around a walkable part of
downtown Raleigh stretching from the just-renovated space of Vintage 21 on West St
through a set of music clubs and on to Moore Square. All events at Moore Square are
free. Registration at the conference allows you to attend the 2 full day workshops about
local creative issues, including community collaboration, city development and
protection of artist's rights. The registration badge also receives discounts at key music
events.
SparkCon is a 100% volunteer effort. Organized as an "Open Source" conference, each
Spark component of SparkCon is created by individuals who are deeply embedded in
specific local scenes. Using a combination of networking and open call-for-participants,
these organizers have aimed to create the most diverse and representative events to show
off local talent. In so doing, many have found success at creating new and lasting
connections across disparate creative scenes.
