Dan Ellison, Attorney

Daniel Ellison is an attorney in private practice in Durham. He has been working with artists and nonprofit arts organizations for more than twenty years. He is a frequent speaker and writer on a variety of arts law issues. He regularly teaches workshops and courses on legal issues for photographers and writes a bi-monthly column on legal issues for the Southeastern Theatre Conference Newsletter.

Dan is a past president and executive director of the North
Carolina Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and former chair of the North Carolina State Bar Association’s Arts Law Committee. He developed Durham Arts Place, which recently celebrated its eleventh anniversary of providing affordable artist studio spaces. He is a 2007 recipient of an Indie Arts Award.
