Bill Mooney co-owns the entertainment merchandising companies Tannis Root Inc. and Kung Fu Nation, with his wife and business partner, Barbara Herring. Founded in 1987, Tannis Root is a screen printing and merchandising company specializing in Entertainment Merchandise, including tour merchandise for rock bands and promotional products for record labels, music retailers, film and television productions.

Kung Fu Nation is an eCommerce and fulfillment services company that creates, maintains and operates web stores for clients within the entertainment industry. Kung Fu Nation also provides B2B sales and solicits licensing opportunities for their clients.

Clients of Tannis Root and Kung Fu Nation include:
The White Stripes, DEVO, R.E.M. Sonic Youth, Beck, The Raconteurs, Battles, Animal Collective, Sinead O’Connor. David Byrne, Merge Records, Matador Records, Warner Music Group, Patti Smith, Sony Music, Tenacious D, Yoko Ono, Yo La Tengo and many more.

Bill Mooney was a co-owner of The Sting-Ray Room, a bar in Raleigh’s Five Points neighborhood from 1994-2001. Tannis Root and Kung Fu Nation are currently located in a warehouse building in the Boylan/Snowland area.
